I come home from Batangas.

AND THIS IS WHAT I GET:

1. NAYA freaking RIVERA sang Songbird (originally by Fleetwood Mac) DAMN YOU NAYA. Why is your voice so full of awesomeness? I don't know why the writers of Glee chose this song for Santana to sing (although I have some speculations) but whatever, I just can't stop listening to Songbird. I'm so glad that they've given Santana another solo. Yeay.

For you, there'll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right

To you, I'll give the world
to you, I'll never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right.

And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.

And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.

And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before.

2. Then Brittana promo stills explode on Tumblr. WAAH BRITTANA. ♥ I haven't even watched this week's episopde and now I'm seeing the promo stills for the next episode. Haha. You, Tumblr, you. You ruin my Glee watchclock. Haha.

3. Then I find out about Tina Fey's interview with Jimmy Fallon on May 5, then her hosting of SNL on May 7. OHMYGAAASH.

4. AND THEN!!!! NEW EPISODES FROM 30 ROCK AND GREY'S ANATOMY!

LIFE IS FREAKING GOOD.

Internship.

Batangas was all heaps of everything.. Stress, excitement, fulfillment, perspiration, pig poop, sunshine, high temp, low temp...

After 3 weeks of lectures, assessments, cooking lessons and everything, before we went back to Manila, we all had a little bit of fun. :) Our batch rented a private villa (with a pool) as a sort of internship-ender celebration thingy.

It was one hell of a night.

We did a lot of enormous whirlpools we liked to call "Magic Circles" HAHA. The best one lasted for more or less 5 minutes! Everyone enjoyed it.

Plus the food! Haha. The food was good. Every barangay contributed one dish. My personal favorite was the Shanghai (Eskribano boys!). Damn that was good. :)

I think that our batch really bonded like super glue in this internship. I see a great future ahead for the batch. Kudos to our reps, Js Urias and Ate Anj. Kayo na ang magaling!

Batangas did more to me than to eat healthy and learn to savor dust during jeepney rides. This might sound like some "bola-bola" reaction paper shit, but really, Barangay Bulsa made me realize how much of a lucky girl I am. And how I've been selfishly complaining of things that I shouldn't really be caring about in the first place.

These people in Bulsa - they are so contented with what little they have. They live such simple lives that not being able to catch up on Tina Fey or any other series don't matter at all. They don't need cable to be happy, they don't need highspeed internet connection to be entertained, they just need to have food on their tables 3 times a day and to be with their family at all times.

This was the video I made for our Exit Report. It's crappy I know, but I just wanted it here for documentation purposes. :) They all clapped in the end naman eh, that's enough for me. Hihi.

Internship-ing at Batangas.

I'm attempting to create a video.
I will be using the song "Boston" as background music.
I'm hoping it would give our report the theatrical effect we want it to have.
And yes... I'm creating this post right now while downloading the song "Boston" via my trusty ol' SmartBro.

Yeah.

Peace-ing outing.

Tina Fey's Aha! Moment

Six years ago, I moved from Chicago to New York to work at Saturday Night Live. I packed up and was going through my things to see what I would take with me and what I’d leave behind. I found an orange folder—a regular school folder—in a bookshelf. As soon as I saw it, I knew what it was. There were quotes written all over the front of it. Some of them were: “Greet everything with ‘Yes, and… ‘” “Make statements instead of putting the burden on others with questions.” “Stay in the present, as opposed to focusing on the past or future.” “The fun is always on the other side of a yes.”

Years before, I was a student at Second City, an improvisational acting school in Chicago, and took a class with artistic director Martin de Maat. These quotes were some of the rules of improv he gave us. When I found the folder, I realized that taking that class had completely changed my life. It certainly sent me down a career path that I never would have ended up on otherwise. It also sent me down a personal path—my friends were all part of the improv community. My husband was a piano player at the ImprovOlympic, and we met there. All those rules and exercises defined us and our outlook on the world.

The things I learned in that class became part of the way I live my life. A couple of times I’ve been called on to do things—jobs or whatever—where I’ve felt, Maybe I’m not quite ready. Maybe it’s a little early for this to happen to me. But the rules are so ingrained. “Say yes, and you’ll figure it out afterward” has helped me to be more adventurous. It has definitely helped me be less afraid.

“We’re offering you a job here at Saturday Night Live—can you move here within a week?”

“Ummm, yes I can.”

“You know, you haven’t been here that long, but do you want to move up and try to be one of the head writers?”

Feeling completely terrified inside, but saying, “Uhhh, yes, okay, yes, for sure.”

“Do you wanna do ‘Weekend Update’ with Jimmy?”

Petrified. “Yes, thank you, of course!”

There are limits of reason to this idea of saying yes to everything, but when I meet someone whose first instinct is “No, how can we do that? That doesn’t seem possible,” I’m always kind of taken aback. Almost anyone would say, “It’s Friday at two in the morning. We don’t have an opening political sketch. We can’t do it.” Yeah, of course you can. There’s no choice. And even if you abandon one idea for another one, saying yes allows you to move forward.

Sitting on the floor of my Chicago apartment, I realized that the words on the folder had a broader use than just for improvising comedy. Life is improvisation. All of those classes were like church to me. The training had seeped into me and changed who I am.

Child naming.

I might just name my future baby "Callie" or "Arizona" or "Elizabeth" ...

Clearly my life has been taken over by fictional characters from American television.

Long Road Ahead

Grey's Anatomy Sneak Peek 7.19: It's a Long Way Back

I will forever love Callie and Arizona (aka Calzona)

It was a comforting feeling when Shonda Rhimes (GA headwriter or whatever) tweeted to the Calzona fandom that Callie and Arizona were "MFEO". I wouldn't be able to handle it if in the end, Calzona would just break up.

That's because I've been behind Calzona ever since... ever since that first bathroom kiss. They are like Tina and Bette (from The L Word), otherwise known as Tibette. I followed them - Calzona and Tibette. Episode per episode, both never failed to give me the gift of hope. Through their storylines, they imparted in me that glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, knowing that one day, in some way, I would find my own Arizona or my own Bette.

I know it'll probably take a handful of fate, a ton of luck and bazillion pounds of prayer, but I still have that little ache inside, telling me that I shouldn't worry because she will come. There's someone out there, meant specifically and only for me.

I envy Calzona and Tibette, because (even if they're just fictional characters), amidst all the shit that they had to go through, they were still a "THEY" at the end. They weather through everything and after those 40-minute episodes, during the credits, we would still be calling them Calzona and Tibette because they were still together.

AND I WANT THAT.

Which is why I'm kind of immensely scared for my future because I know that my parents would take it kind of extremely hard to accept that I may be a lez. I've seen my mom irk intensely when she found out about her close girl friend having some sort of relationship with another girl. She would boo her friend and even if they've been friends since high-freaking-school, my mom TURNED AWAY from this friend. She couldn't accept her might-be-lesbian friend even with such a heavy history on their backs. I mean, what the heck?

I can't say with 100% confidence that I'm a lesbian, or whatever. I don't know myself. I may be Bi or this may be just a long loooong phase in this life of mine. I don't know yet. I mean, who knows really?

But the fact that I'm having these thoughts now puts "Kyla might become a true lesbian, inside or outside the closet" right on the board with a heading that says "WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS:". And I don't know if my parents would have the heart to agree to that.

I just don't know if I'm on the right track.

So what does the GA Sneak Peek have to do with all this lesbian drama? Well, it's just that I saw myself in Callie. Not the injury part, not the "I-cant-hold-my-baby" part. But I saw a future, I saw my possible future there. I saw myself, struggling, waving through problem after problem with a partner who will love me and will be with me no matter what.

But the hard thing there is, taking the situation I'm in right now, before I live my conflicted lesbian life, before I go through all the shit, I know that ahead of me, there will be a long road that I have to thread on first. A long... rocky, bumpy, treacherous road ahead: the struggle for acceptance.

And again, I just don't know if I'm on the right track.

In a slightly related news, OHMYGOSH, THAT GA SNEAK PEEK MADE ME CRY :'( Callie struggling to be able to hold her baby.

And there's another sneak peek showing how Callie's incredibly heartbroken because she couldn't see nor hold her baby.
Oh Callie :'( It'll be okay. Arizona, Mark and everyone in Seattle Grace is there to support you. Just don't give up, okay?

Grabe, Kyla. Totoong tao si Callie?
Totoo, Kyla? Ha? Sigurado ka?!
AHAHAHA.

I SO WANT THIS.

After The Wedding: The Married Life Infographic
I think this is really cute! You could use it as a late thank you card (for those of you who tend to procrastinate lol) or just to send out a year after the wedding to the people who attended.

Pero siyempre hindi siya yun, kasi si Lynn Chn yung nasa movie.
Tsaka kasi nasa ibang malayong bansa ngayon si Mae actually.

Grabe talaga, pati boses, pareho!

My Mae dreams have been realized in this movie. Haha.

BOSSYPANTS

BOSSYPANTS
By Tina Fey

GQ: You write about telling your daughter that people have "yellow" hair to fight the global blond conspiracy. My son's blond. Is he superior, or do you have to be a girl?

Tina Fey: Oh, it still carries some weight. I wouldn't even bother with him-he'll be fine. What color are his eyes?

GQ: Blue.

Tina Fey: Don't even teach him to read.

I LOVE HER. I JUST CAN'T EVEN! AGH.

Still not over The Script.

SEE?
LAST NIGHT'S CONCERT WAS SO EPIC THAT EVEN CHICO GARCIA (Rx Monster Radio DJ) SHED A FEW TEARS!

LOOKIE HERE:
(From his blog: CHICO GARCIA'S BLOG)
"Of course my personal favorite of all their songs is “Talk You Down”, and as I sang (more like scream) out every note with all of my heart, I squirted a tear or two out of sheer overwhelmedness of the experience. I tried to swallow the lumps in my throat, but to no avail, as I sang: “Just a cigarette gone, no you couldn’t be that far, so I’m driving in my car where I hope you are. Maybe I can talk you down…” It was an emo-gasm!"

And he even took some amazing photos! :)

Fuck shit, it's THE SCRIPT!

Whenever I watch foreign artists' concerts, I usually "prepare" myself beforehand. I listen to their songs, I try to sing along. And I charge my camera's batteries so I could take lotsa lotsa videos and blurry amateur pictures...

But unlike these concerts I attended.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
KATY PERRY.
PARAMORE.
DAVID COOK.
DAVID ARCHULETA.
JABAWOCKEEZ.
BACKSTREET BOYS.
KRIS ALLEN.
LADY GAGA.
BOYCE AVENUE.
DASHBOARD CONFESSIONALS.
PUSSYCAT DOLLS.

I didn't really "prepare" for The Script.

Why?
Because number one, I was really too busy to do anything else but plan, prepare and execute lectures for my internship in Batangas. Number two, I didn't feel the need to listen to The Script's songs for I already know their songs by freaking heart. Number three, I didn't charge our camera's batteries, because I decided not to bring ze camera, because I didn't want to concentrate on getting the right pictures, or taking videos of my most adored songs during the whole concert. I wanted to let The Script come into me. I wanted to focus. I wanted to breathe them in.

And number five, because I thought I was already prepared.
The keyword their is "I thought"

AND GUESS WHAT.
After all that.

Nothing... NOTHING PREPARED ME FOR WHAT HAPPENED JUST A FEW HOURS AGO.

The Script was too much for me. I haven't felt this much passion for any musician since Regine's concert back in 2006 (Twenty). I teared up FOUR times. And I'm not kidding. I really shed tears. REAL EFFING TEARS. After a few lines of their opening song, You Won't Feel A Thing, my eyes, they bled of warm tears, tears of undefined happiness.

They sang ALL of my favorite songs (sidenote: what I just said [or wrote] is kind of weird because I love ALL of the The Script's songs), and I just sang my heart out, I sang until I felt like my lungs couldn't take it any more. Wait, correction, I didn't "sing" per se, I actually shouted the lyrics.. like literally.

To hell with the people beside me who thought that I'm such a looney for acting like a crazy monkey, screw the fact that I watched The Script in awe ALONE, screw the fact that I was only sitting in the Upper Box B section.

SCREW YOU ALL, I WATCHED DANNY SING LIVE.
SCREW YOU ALL, I HEARD THE MOST AMAZING BAND EVER PERFORM.
SCREW YOU ALL, I SAW THEM LIVE ON STAGE... IN THE FREAKING FLESH.

I was (and still) so happy, I could die. And that's for real. I am serious. I can really just drop dead right here, RIGHT NOW.

My goodness. I just can't explain the euphoria I felt awhile ago. For a total of 90 minutes, I forgot all the shitty problems and frustrations I've mustered up this past few months.

I was totally unprepared for The Script.

And it was a blessing.

Dear The Script, I know I've said this a million times already, but please know that you own my heart COMPLETELY.

Love always,
Kyla. :)

OH YEAH!

Just to let you all know..

I'm starting with my Community internship today :)

I'll be leaving for Batangas later (6 in the freaking AM).

Even as we haven't stepped on the land of Barangay Bulsa, San Juan, Batangas, we already have so much work in line for us there and it will all be for the love of... plants.

Joke. For the love of my course (blech, can't believe I just said that.)

I'll be having my Community internship in Batangas for 3 weeks. Then the Drugstore internship at Healthfirst (near Edsa Central) for another 3 weeks.

Life is good.
Life is independence.
Yes to life.

ANYWAYS.

I've been watching a lot of lez movies lately.

Loving Annabelle
Fingersmith
Fresh Green Tomatoes

...And I'm downloading a couple more.

Gia
The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister
Tipping the Velvet
High Art
Kissing Jessica Stein
The Gymnast
Monster
The Hours
When Night is Falling

HAHA.

I also downloaded the soundtrack of Loving Anabelle.
And it's like this:
Photobucket

In the space between what’s wrong and right,
You will find me waiting for you.
All your fortresses go down in the night.
To the dawn I’ll see you through.

‘Cause I know, that you know,
You’re all over me now.
And it’s clear, it will show,
Your curtains will close.
But if your heart is cold, my sheets are warm.
I will shelter you through the storm.
I will shelter you all through the storm

I am actually dying now.
Why?

Well.. It's because I have just downloaded a bunch of "I-wanna-cry-now-my-heart-can't-handle-this" songs. I got these songs from http://fuckyeahweddingideas.tumblr.com. They were the answers to the question:

"What song do you have in mind for your first dance as husband and wife?"

And wow. The songs. They are ♥.

I'm calling this playlist, "THE WEDDING PLAYLIST" \m/

Listening to each and every song warms my heart entirely. My chest now is like a heated oven with a turkey being roasted inside it on a Christmas Eve. OHYEAH.

So I just saw Burlesque.

At first I didn't wanna watch it ('cause of Cher), but then KRISTEN BELL. *jaws dropped, eyes popped*

OKAY! SO THEN I DOWNLOADED IT IMMEDIATELY. Haha!

Kinda disappointed though that Kristen Bell's character didn't have so much of a plot there but I'm happy to see shake her groove thing ... Oh life.

AND OHEMGEE, CHRISTINA AGUILERA SO THIN AND HER MAD VOCALS ARE (still) MAD.
